DAKAR EXPERIENCE AT TERTS 2007
Le Dakar, the world’s toughest rally, will be held for the 30th time next year. For the third time in a row, the rally drivers will set off from the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.

The rally starts on January 5, 2008: A major part of the Dutch and Belgian equipment in action that day will be exhibited at TERTS 2007 in a tent typical of the rally.

High-profile historic trucks
In addition to current equipment, a number of high-profile historic trucks will be on display in the tent. Visitors might also run into their favourite drivers: During the exhibition several Dakar heroes will share their plans for the coming rally adventure at the pavilion.

Cor Karremans Minitruck
The well-prepared Dakar trucks have been fitted with many new technological developments. As an example, a truck prototype of Cor Karremans will be exhibited at the pavilion. Karremans, who has already participated twice before, will be driving this special minitruck in the 2009 rally.

Dakar Press Team
The organisation of the Dakar Experience is in the hands of the Dakar Press Team. They will soon be photographing the rally for the fifth time, which will again result in the publication of a new book.

DAF PRESENTS CF WITH HIGH ROOF
The new DAF CF with a high roof, similar to that on the XF105, will be launched at TERTS 2007. Striking top lights are available as an extra option.
DAF calls them Skylights and they can be fitted at an additional charge. DAF is also introducing a number of changes to construction vehicles within the CF series to enhance comfort and off-road mobility, to reduce susceptibility to damage even further.

Double-drive tandem
The double-drive tandem, for example, is fitted with silent blocks and various new steps have been developed. A specific adaptation of the 12-speed AS Tronic automated gearbox is available especially for ‘off road’ applications. Stand number 01.002

EVO INTRODUCES THE TRUCK GUIDE
EVOEVO is the representative of transport companies, providing them with information on how to save on logistics and other company costs. Another important role for EVO is informing companies about relevant topics of interest.

Truck guide
One such topic is trucks, which is one of the reasons the Truck guide was developed. In this guide, EVO answers many of the companies’ questions and brings to their attention issues they may not have previously considered. These include truck features, cargo, international transportation but also many issues surrounding drivers, crime, security, and fuel (reduction). Similar guides on vans have already proven to be useful sources of information for companies in the past.

EVO members receive the guide for free. Non-members can profit from a special promotional price of 10 euros during TERTS 2007.

BEKS INTRODUCES 'THE' COMMERCIAL VEHICLE INTERIOR
InnovationThis year at TERTS you can see at first hand a brand-new truck interior solution. Beks Systems is proud to present a interior which increases the load capacity in commercial vehicles by up to 75%.

Horizontal layout
This enormous improvement is the result of a horizontal layout with drawers of up to 165 cm. These drawers can carry up to 100 kg and the contents such as materials or tools can be accessed from outside the vehicle.

Free space
This is in contrast with the traditional (vertical) commercial vehicle interiors, which always demanded free space in the centre of the truck in order to access the contents. The new commercial vehicle interior divides the cargo space into several horizontal segments which deploy the full length and width of the cargo area.

In addition to being extremely efficient, this interior has a number of other advantages:

- Enhanced overview and accessibility
- Reduced risk of theft
- Improves driving performance.

SAVAS WITH OVERCOVERS
Seat coversSavas Seatings from Zaltbommel, the Netherlands, will use TERTS 2007 to introduce the Overcover, an in-company development. This leather seat cover has an unprecedented fit and can be zipped seamlessly over a seat within 30 seconds.

From close up, the cover is almost indistinguishable from original leather covers and can be provided with logos, air supports and even heating on request. According to director Frans Jozef van Seumeren, the Overcover was designed in response to the fact that an increasing amount of drivers no longer have their own truck.

Personal touch

“The Overcover allows drivers to easily and inexpensively add a personal touch to the cabin, giving them the feeling that they are sitting in their ‘own’ chair. The owner of the truck will appreciate it as well and many drivers with their own regular truck are also interested in personalising their vehicles.”

Customised
The Overcover is currently available for all truck brands. It comes in many colours and can be completely customised. A series of these fast seat covers will be on the market late this year.

VOLVO WITH FUELWATCH
VolvoVolvo’s showpiece, the FH Globetrotter XL with 660 hp, will of course be on display at the Volvo stand at TERTS 2007. The main theme of the Swedish company will, however, be the attractions of fuel reduction with Fuelwatch.

Fuelwatch sees Volvo enhance its efficient and sustainable company philosophy. The comprehensive concept starts the moment a vehicle is ordered, ensuring it is optimally suited to its intended purpose. Drivers are assisted by technical features such as I-Shift with Ecorol and Dynafleet to keep fuel consumption under control. This is further complemented by special training courses.

Significant reductions
Fuelwatch is not necessarily intended for new trucks: Significant reductions can also be achieved with existing vehicles by, for example, upgrading the software and training drivers. An important element of Fuelwatch is Volvo’s fleet-management-system, Dynafleet.

TRUCKFOCUS® GOES LIVE
Truck FocusTRUCKFOCUS® has chosen to introduce a communication platform aimed at European transport companies at TERTS 2007. The introduction is a result of a successful trial presentation in September at the ‘Carrosserie Vakdagen’ trade show in Gorinchem, the Netherlands.

Ten languages
TRUCKFOCUS® offers European transport companies the possibility to easily reduce or extend their vehicle fleet – without intermediaries. Especially for this target group, a user-friendly tool was developed to provide a market place for the supply and demand of previously owned trucks on the internet. Trucks can be put for sale in no less than ten languages.

Vacancies
To facilitate transport companies in finding experienced drivers and charters, TRUCKFOCUS® also offers the option to channel the supply and demand of drivers and charters online. Vacancies are posted on behalf of transport companies to which drivers and charters can react. And the same goes in reverse.

International experience
TRUCKFOCUS® is an initiative by Marco de Vrind. His wide international experience in the truck and transport world gave him the incentive to start the TRUCKFOCUS® concept, offering a unique new service to transport companies. 'This is only the start of an easier life for my target group,' says De Vrind. 'The supply-and-demand tool and the job vacancy platform will soon be supported by a range of new functions.'
